The menstrual cycle is a natural process that happens in a woman’s body every month. It is controlled by the hormones that are released from the ovaries and other endocrine glands during each phase of the cycle. The hormones released during different phases of the menstrual cycle affect a woman’s moods, appetite, libido, energy levels and sleep patterns among others. Hormonal changes also happen when there are fluctuations in light-dark cycles or other such factors like stress levels or exercise routines that alter circadian rhythms.
